The Legacy Center Conferment

The University's Executive Council, in consultation with the Honors and Awards Committee, determines and governs
the policies and requirements for honorary doctorate conferment. The awarding of honorary degrees represents
the highest intellectual and moral values of the University and reflects its character and quality.

Bishop Dr. Michael Bates Sr. is the co-founder of the Legacy Center for Harvest Christian University, and he
has demonstrated a strong commitment to the university's legacy and future. As the Executive Vice Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the St. Louis Extension Campus, Bishop Bates is responsible for managing daily campus operations and developing academic and administrative policies.
He has demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire others to make a positive impact on society. Bishop Bates has also supported the growth and development of Harvest Christian University through philanthropic endeavors. He is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and oversees the extension campus's efforts to create a more inclusive institution and campus climate. The Legacy Center at Harvest Christian University has established an Icon Awards Program to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to
the university and the community. The program aims to honor and celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions of these individuals, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
